One of the favorite travel destinations for Indians is definitely Thailand. It’s easy to see why – there are no visa requirements, flights are short and well-connected, and there’s lots of delicious vegetarian and Indian food to enjoy. Plus, you can plan a trip on any budget. And now, to encourage even more visitors, Thailand is launching an exciting new travel program called “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights.”
This initiative aims to motivate travelers to explore beyond popular cities like Bangkok and Phuket, allowing them to discover some of Thailand’s hidden gems. As per Nation Thailand, the Tourism and Sports Minister, Sorawong Thienthong, announced plans to request a budget of 700 million baht from the Cabinet to support this program.
This scheme is similar to what Japan Airlines is doing in 2025, where they will provide free domestic flights to international travelers who book their full itinerary with them, encouraging exploration of Japan’s less crowded areas.
Now speaking about this “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights” scheme, once approved, the government will help cover the costs of domestic flights, which will be priced at 1,750 baht for one-way trips (or 3,500 baht for round-trip trips). Travelers can look forward to visiting UNESCO World Heritage cities and popular tourist attractions across the country. The program will run from August to December 2025, with travel between September and November. Six airlines – Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet—are already participating in the program.
What To Expect From The Thailand Free Flight Offer
Foreign visitors, including those from India, who buy regular international tickets to Thailand, will be eligible for this offer. They can access it through airline websites, multi-city bookings, connecting flights, or online travel agencies. Each traveler can get two domestic flight tickets (one for going and one for returning) along with a 20 kg baggage allowance.
The plan aims to provide free domestic flights for up to 200,000 international tourists over three months. Eligible travelers will be able to claim a free round-trip flight within Thailand when they book their international flights directly through airlines or travel agencies.
Authorities believe it could generate significant revenue, with estimates suggesting at least 8.81 billion baht directly from tourist spending and a total economic impact of around 21.80 billion baht.
