You must’ve seen countless restaurants serving international cuisines in the most premium ways. However, up-and-coming Indian restaurants are turning towards bringing diverse Indian regional cuisines to the table. And if there’s one such restaurant that’s doing it right, it has to be Tanjore Tiffin Room.
The restaurant that calls itself a ‘Tamilian bistro serving home style food’ is becoming quite popular for their comforting dishes. After successfully serving Mumbaikars in Versova and Bandra, the restaurant is set to open its third restaurant in Goregaon, Mumbai.

The New Tanjore Tiffin Room (TTR) Outpost In Goregaon
The New TTR outpost in Goregaon is about to be just as grand and meticulously decorated as the ones in Bandra and Versova. This outpost will be its biggest in Mumbai, spanning across 3,000 sq. ft. in Goregaon’s Nesco.
The restauarant first opened for patrons in Versova in 2017. Two years later in 2019, it opened up in the posh locales of Bandra. Post-pandemic, Tanjore Tiffin Room decided to serve its customers in Goa and opened up in Anjuna in 2023. Cut to 2025, and it’s back to serving Mumbaikars at a new locality in the Western suburbs of Goregaon.
Patrons will be delighted to find the same menu at the Goregaon outpost that impressed them in Versova and Bandra. However, in addition to it, the Goregaon outpost will feature a live paniyaram station for you to get piping hot paniyarams at your will!

The restaurant which is known for its signature podi idlis, home-style chicken curries, and a bold explosion of Tamilian spices and flavors will soon captivate patrons in Goregaon in a space that is just as elegantly curated.
The Goregaon outpost will be its fourth outpost in India. With 2 locations – Versova and Bandra in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and 1 location in Anjuna, Goa, it will be interesting to see where TTR plans to open its next outpost!
For restaurateur Kishore DF, Founder of Tanjore Tiffin Room, it is what feels home to him. After being away from his city and food for a long time, he decided to offer authentic Tamilian food to patrons who were seeking for more diverse South Indian food. Tanjore Tiffin Room is a labor of his love for food and his roots, and the restaurant aptly pays homage to Tamil Nadu’s diverse cultural heritage.
Tanjore Tiffin Room: What Makes Them Special
You must be wondering what makes TTR so special. Well, for many years, South Indian food has been broadly thought of only as a few variations of dosa and idli. However, each state in South India has its own distinct cuisine. And even if it might overlap and seamlessly blend with other cuisine, each style of cuisine has its own distinct taste and appeal.
Tanjore Tiffin Room started with the very goal of serving authentic Tamil cuisine that heavily uses coconut, tamarind, onion, and a whole lot of spices. TTR is bringing largely unknown or underappreciated home-style food to the table and it is certainly exceeding in doing so.
The Tastefully Curated Space At Tanjore Tiffin Room
Who would resist deliciously made home-style Tamil delicacies served in an upscale, yet wholesome ambiance? The space is decked up in antique wood, elaborate brass, and a rustic charm that is best seen in old Tamil homes.

The walls are painted in muted tones so as to not overpower the elegant decor or the food. With hand-painted murals, muted colors, and lighting that only makes this experience better, you’ll feel at home!
The much-appreciated earthy feel of the space has been curated by celebrated Indian interior designer Shabnam Gupta. She is known for seamlessly blending Indian motifs, textures, and colors with an eclectic and contemporary vibe.
From patterned tiles to light-washed walls and tables and chairs that feel like they’re straight from a 90s time capsule, the space invites you first before the food!
Must Try Food At Tanjore Tiffin Room
While we certainly recommend trying out as much as you can from their expansive menu, we couldn’t resist but pick some of the stand-outs that people all over the internet are heaping praise on!
You’ll be first presented with a sampler of all the different curries and you’ll be having a tough time choosing only one for your meal. Now that you’re placing your order, we recommend trying out the ‘meaty’ Jackfruit Cutlets, fluffy, flavor-packed Mini Podi Idlis, the peppery Mutton Pepper Fry, and the signature coconut, tomato, and onion-based Madras Railway Curry.
Also, do not forget to try out other famous dishes like the Marina Beach Sundal, inspired by the popular Chennai street snack, the fried anchovy snack Nethily Fry, and the Chicken Chettinad made in the classic Chettinad style of cuisine.
