Traveling by train offers great value for money and allows you to reach destinations where flights might not be available or cost-effective. It’s beneficial when you have a lot of luggage, as you can avoid hefty baggage fees at airports. And one such train route that has gained a lot of popularity over the years is the Bengaluru–Mumbai route! Though it can take upwards of 24 hours, many people choose this option to save money and take advantage of the luggage allowance.
However, there’s about to be a big change soon! After three decades of high demand, the Railway Ministry has finally greenlit a new superfast train service connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, making travel between these two major cities much more convenient, as announced by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tejasvi Surya on September 27. The introduction of this superfast train will link two of India’s key economic centers more efficiently.

Bengaluru–Mumbai Superfast Train To Benefit Travelers, Families, Students And More
“As a result of capacity expansion at their stations, we’re excited to announce that a superfast train will soon be operational between Bengaluru and Mumbai,” said Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw in a statement from Surya’s office. Surya pointed out that until now, the Udyan Express was the only train connecting these important cities, and it takes a lengthy 24-hour journey.
The much-awaited fast train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai has finally been proposed after 30 years, despite the growth of both cities. Currently, there is only one superfast option connecting them. With air travel data showing over 2.6 million passengers last year, the new train aims to provide a more affordable and convenient alternative for those commuting between these two major hubs. This service is set to benefit numerous travelers, including businesspersons, families, and students.
Surya thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for turning this long-awaited dream into a reality.
