5. Gorai Beach

Gorai Beach, compared to many other spots on this list, is quite underrated. What makes it so unique as a sunset spot in Mumbai is its calm, palm-fringed shoreline, serene waters, and a peaceful atmosphere. Its location on the city’s outskirts makes it a perfect spot to unwind over a weekend day-trip. When you’re here, you can also visit the Global Vipassana Pagoda nearby (about 4 km away).

To get to the beach, visitors must take a ferry boat from either Marve Beach in Malad or Gorai Creek in Borivali. Alternatively, the beach can be reached from Bhayander via road. In a city that’s almost always bustling with energy, Gorai Beach offers a much-needed tranquil atmosphere and a break from the city life.

6. Yogi Hills

Yogi Hills in Mulund is definitely one of the most underrated sunset spots in Mumbai. Its distant location in the North-eastern suburbs of Mumbai attracts fewer crowds than the more popular sunset spots in South Mumbai. However, the views here are simply unmatched.

The hills border the protected Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) forest from its eastern side. As it is in close proximity to the SGNP forest, the terrain is perfect for easy hikes, nature trails, and other nature-related activities. There are a few waterfalls along the hills that become active during monsoon. However, the area is not ideal for visiting post sunset as chances of wild animal encounters are high, including that of leopards! Despite a few risks (that can be easily avoided), Yogi Hills provides a breathtaking view of Mulund and the SGNP forest.

Address: Sardar Pratap Singh Udyan, 11, Agrawal Rd, Silver Birch Society, Swapna Nagari, Hanuman Pada, Mulund West, Mumbai, Maharashtra (You can start hikes and nature trails from within this park)

Despite that, the park retains its natural beauty, and in fact, provides a much-needed calm by the sea.

The park is popular among locals, who visit it for their morning and evening runs, walking their pets, or just casually strolling by the sea. If you find the nearby Marine Drive a bit too crowded, especially during sunset or during weekends, you can  easily make your way to the Cuffe Parade Park!
