Sitaare Zameen Par: Shooting Locations, Release, And Distribution Strategy

Mumbai: Bollywood’s Home Base

The cast of Sitaare Zameen Par was spotted shooting for the film in Mumbai. The city, home to Bollywood, is a favorite shooting destination for filmmakers. Whether it’s Mumbai’s iconic beaches, such as those in Juhu and Girgaon, or the iconic Marine Drive, the city’s undeniable charm makes it a dream destination for every filmmaker.

Many parts of the movie were shot at the Goregaon Film City, the hub of all media production in Mumbai. The film city, also known as Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri, is so vast that about 1000 film sets can be erected here simultaneously! So, it’s no surprise that the movie, for a lot of its scenes, was shot here.

The Vintage Yet Modern Charm Of New Delhi

The capital city of India has also been featured in this sports-drama movie. New Delhi is known for its unique mix of history, culture, and modernity. It has both modern infrastructure as well as historic districts and monuments. Be it the old world charm of ‘Puraani Delhi’, the bustling cityscapes of Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), or the understated calm of New Delhi, the city has something to offer for everyone.

While in New Delhi, make sure to visit iconic landmarks like India Gate, Red Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Jama Masjid, as well as popular streets and neighborhoods like Chandni Chowk, Khan Market, Sarojini, and Lodhi Colony.

Climax Shoot In Vadodara

The final few portions and the climax of the film were shot in Gujarat’s Vadodara. The historic city, located on the banks of the Vishwamitri River, has served as a major seat of power for many ancient and medieval dynasties. Actor Aamir Khan himself revealed in many media interactions that a lot of his father’s films have been shot in Vadodara. Khan also recalled how the city has drastically changed since he first stepped here when he was 12.

He fondly mentions how the state of Gujarat has served as a major hub of cinema alongside Maharashtra and that he’d love to film more of his future projects in the state. With that being said, if you’re in Vadodara, make sure to visit iconic landmarks like Baroda Museum, Sursagar Lake, Lakshmi Vilas Palace, and Sayaji Baug Zoo, among many others.

The Unique Release Strategy Of Sitaare Zameen Par

Cast of Sitaare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan is known for his unique approach to films, be it choosing the right scripts or marketing his movies. The makers of the movie have adopted a unique approach to promote and market their movie. They’ve released certain guidelines for cinema halls and distributors days ahead of the movie’s release.

Here are a few of those guidelines:

  • All theaters must adhere to the guideline that mentions the earliest shows of the movie begin only after 9 AM. This is to maintain a uniform start time across the nation.
  • If single-screen theaters choose to display the movie, they must hold shows for the entire day. No other movie should be shown alongside Sitaare Zameen Par in order to guarantee a wide release for the movie.
  • Multiplexes also have fixed show count rules. The movie must be shown at least 8 times a day in a two-screen cinema. Whereas the more screens a multiplex has, the more shows will be required. This count goes up to as many as 31 shows a day for those with 10 or more screens.
  • While Aamir Khan and the makers have agreed to keep the ticket prices at a reasonable price to make the movie more accessible to a wider audience, cinemas have been encouraged to make full use of the weekend price. Tickets will cost slightly higher but will remain manageable for most of the audience, striking a rare balance between accessibility and profits.

Summing Up

The movie has all that it takes to be a blockbuster movie of 2025, and arguably even the past few years. While Khan’s last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, didn’t perform well commercially, Sitaare Zameen Par promises to pack a punch at the box office. Be it the heartwarming plot, Aamir Khan’s captivating performance, or Genelia’s much-anticipated comeback in Hindi movies, Sitaare Zameen Par might just end up being one of the many cult movies in Aamir Khan’s filmography! So, did you book your tickets yet?
