The Rambagh Palace was built in 1835, almost two centuries ago, but has maintained its beauty and splendor even after roughly 200 years. Once the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, it evolved into a royal guesthouse and a hunting lodge. Today, it stands as one of India’s most extravagant palace hotels, managed by Taj.

Rambagh Palace is most notably known for its hand-carved marble latticework, majestic balustrades, lush-green Mughal Gardens, and plenty of unique dining spaces. The Suvarna Mahal restaurant here is housed inside the 18th-century-styled palace ballroom.

US VP JD Vance Visits India For The First Time

The US VP and his family landed at the Palam Airport on April 21, 2025, followed by a Ceremonial Guard of Honor. He then proceeded to meet the Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi. He and his family then explored the Central Cottage Industries Emporium and the Akshar Dham Temple in New Delhi. After a short Delhi touchdown, they then made their way to Jaipur where he’d stay at the Rambagh Palace.

On April 22, 2025, he and his family visited the Amber Fort. This is where they were welcomed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari. A troupe of Rajasthani folk dancers performed for them and the fort’s two elephants, Chanda and Pushpa, welcomed them in their royal attire.

After exploring the various chambers of the fort, such as the Diwan-e-Khas, Diwan-e-Aam, and the Baradari, they passed through a few Jaipur city attractions before reaching Rambagh Palace.

On their way, they passed through the iconic, pink Hawa Mahal. Its facade was constructed specially for the royal women to look outside onto the streets without capturing the fancy of the locals below. The structure has also been well-designed to facilitate excellent ventilation, which is why it is known as Hawa Mahal.

They then passed through the Jal Mahal, one of Jaipur’s most recognizable landmarks. The palace sits on top of the serene Man Sagar Lake. Originally constructed in 1699, the palace went through renovation projects later. Today, it serves as a private royal residence and the public is not allowed to enter inside the palace. However, you can get a good view of the Jal Mahal from the sidewalks circling the Man Sagar Lake. Visit the place during sunset and thank us later!
