Day 1 and 2: Jaipur

If you’ve read Rajasthan blogs on the internet, the one city that all of them mention without fail is that of Jaipur. It is one of the most attractive places to visit in Rajasthan, fondly known as the ‘Pink City’ or the ‘Gulabi Shehar’.

This is the state’s capital and is also recognized for its talented artists, craftsmen, and personalities such as Ila Arun, Pratibha Patil, Maharani Gayatri Devi, K. C. Bokadia, and Irrfan Khan.

We recommend arriving in Jaipur on your first day of travel. Your journey to discover Rajasthan’s regal and hospitable culture begins here!

Places To Visit In Jaipur on Day One

1. Hawa Mahal

We want you to start exploring this beautiful city with Hawa Mahal, which is easily one of the most popular palaces in India.

It gets its luxurious pink color from the red and pink sandstone and its royal architecture can put some of today’s posh buildings to shame.

A five-story piece of art, this structure was created back in 1799. The best part of this palace is its back – this is where you get to feast your eyes on 953 little windows that are adorned with delicate latticework.

These tiny windows offer a stunning view of the outside, but are designed in a way that those on the outside can’t even see a single fly on the inside of the mahal.

3. Jantar Mantar

Doesn’t it sound like the name of a mystical spell?

Well, while it is not a spell, the place definitely has the ability to make you spellbound with its innovative structures.

You might be surprised to know this has nothing to do with magic, but everything to do with the study of the positions of the stars.

It has 19 astronomical instruments, not built by ISRO, but by the stellar minds back in 1734.

You’ll also find the world’s largest stone sundial here, that works purely on simple physics and the sun, without depending on elaborate machinery.

In case you are wondering, the words ‘jantar mantar’ means ‘calculating instrument’ in Sanskrit. Whether you are into the study of stars or not, you are bound to be impressed here.
