Post Malone Is All Set To Perform In Guwahati, Assam

Post Malone

Dear ‘Sunflower’, if you love ‘Rockstar’ energy and enjoy dancing to the tunes of Grammy-nominated American rapper and singer Post Malone, we have exciting news for you! Post Malone, popular for hits like ‘Circles’, ‘Better Now’, and ‘I Like You’, will captivate you with his soulful voice and electrifying performance. The US-based rapper will be performing in Guwahati on December 8, as announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press conference in Golaghat on Wednesday. This concert will be part of the state government’s newly introduced ‘concert economy’ initiative.

Meghalaya has been organizing concerts, and a recent Coldplay event in Ahmedabad brought in about Rs 600 crore for the state. Chief Minister Sarma noted that this year’s budget included plans for concert tourism, and the Cabinet approved a related policy today.

The upcoming concert will kick off a series of major music events as part of Assam’s new ‘concert economy’ initiative, which aims to draw international artists, enhance tourism, and support local businesses.

What Is The Concert Economy Initiative

During a press conference in Golaghat, CM Sarma mentioned that similar large-scale concerts will take place in Jorhat and Dibrugarh after Guwahati, with infrastructure being improved to host both national and global performers. “Assam has missed out on the concert tourism scene,” Sarma explained, pointing to how states like Meghalaya and Gujarat have greatly profited from hosting such events. “In the past, many artists preferred Shillong. Now, we’ve secured Post Malone for a performance in Guwahati, which could change everything,” he added.

Regarding the venue and confirmation, we haven’t received any word from Post Malone and his team yet. However, it’s not his first time performing in India. Post Malone made his debut concert in India in 2022 as part of Zomato’s Feeding India initiative. The concert took place at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai.

Assam has launched the “concert economy” initiative to turn music events into a catalyst for tourism and economic growth. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma aims to position Assam alongside destinations like Meghalaya and Gujarat, focusing on large-scale international concerts. This approach views live music as an investment in infrastructure, with ticket sales, hotel bookings, and dining all contributing to the state’s GDP. The initiative begins with Post Malone’s concert in Guwahati on December 8, 2025, followed by events in Jorhat and Dibrugarh.
