The brand is most notably known for selling its “The Monsters” series and Labubu is one of the characters (yes, that ugly elf-like creature) in this toy series conceptualized by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung.
It was in 2016 that the brand began testing out their ‘blind box’ strategy – discreet boxes that housed Molly dolls. Soon, the brand began selling characters from “The Monsters” series and this is when Labubus entered the scene.

The world’s largest POP MART flagship store has opened in Bangkok’s ICONSIAM, a 10-storey high-end shopping mall along the Chao Phraya River. What’s special about ICONSIAM is that it is the world’s 11th largest shopping mall – housing thousands of shops and hundreds of restaurants inside it. From Apple, Zara, and H&M to local brands and now POP MART – ICONSIAM is an iconic landmark in Thailand.
Design, Ambiance, And More: How Does POP MART’s Largest Store Look Like?
The store design draws inspiration from three themes: Water culture, Thai architecture, and inclusivity. These themes align well with POP MART’s mission – “Light up Passion and Bring Joy”.
What will strike you as you enter the store is how well the store has incorporated Thai culture into its design. The two-storey wind-up toy-inspired entrance itself is a striking blend of the brand’s playful design and Thai elements. What also is noteworthy is the giant 4-meter-tall Molly figure clad in traditional Thai attire and shown riding an elephant. It is located in the outdoor terrace area of the store that also offers panoramic views of the Chao Phraya River.

Throughout the store, you’ll notice a heavy use of curves and circles to maintain an organic ‘flowing’ design. Curving paths easily take you around the store, similar to the maze-like floor structure of IKEA stores.
As you make your way inside, you’ll come across multi-level immersive journeys through different, vibrant zones. These include the MEGA Zone, Blind Box Zone, and POP BEAN Zone among others. The second floor also has design elements inspired by Rubik’s Cubes and of course, Thai architecture.
This is also the first store outside China to have its own POP MART Cafe, a playful space to relax, connect, and enjoy delicious treats. The cafe will feature unique food and drinks co-created by POP MART and Thailand’s renowned Greyhound Cafe.
