Under the Glory of Maharashtra Initiative, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Other noteworthy attendees at the event include Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, among others.
During the inauguration, he highlighted ISKCON’s contribution and efforts to make devotion and spirituality accessible to all. He remarked that the temple will not just serve as a place of worship, but also enrich India’s consciousness.
The ISKCON Temple In Kharghar Will Be A Spiritual Hub
Built with a cost of INR 170 crores over 12 years, the ISKCON temple in Kharghar is an architectural marvel. The temple sprawls over 9 acres of land and also houses a college of Vedic Studies – Bhakti Vedanta College of Vedic Education, Bhaktivedanta Ayurvedic Healing Center, a Vedic Museum, and a library. It will also house a goshala (cow shed), a senior-citizen ashram, and an organic farm.
The temple, much like other ISKCON temples, is sure to attract hundreds of devotees every day for the darshan. Devotees visiting the temple can easily spend a day inside the temple premises, as the temple has a fixed daily schedule as mentioned below:

Saraswati Puja – 2 February, 2025
More commonly celebrated as Basant Panchami, ISKCON Temple in Kharghar celebrates Saraswati Puja. The festival honors Lord Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, music, and language and devotees adorn yellow attires representing the arrival of Spring. The temple engages in various sevas (service) and performs special rituals to honor the deity.
Gaura Purnima – 13 March, 2025
Gaura Purnima celebrates the most auspicious and revered Golden Avatara of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The Purnima is one of the most important festivals celebrated in the temple as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is renowned for establishing the Sankirtana Movement. After Janmashtami, this festival holds significance for Gaudiya Vaishnavas.
