St. John in the Wilderness

This is a church that’s frozen in time. Built back in 1852, it’s a fine example of mesmerizing neo-Gothic architecture. It is also known as “Dalai Lama’s Temple” because it’s the monastery of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. It is from here that all the crucial Tibetan ceremonies are performed. There are hundreds of monks here who preserve the traditions and rich culture of Tibet for future generations and visitors like you. This is a great opportunity to see a different culture up close.
