So, here’s us guiding you on how you can spend one day in Bangkok.

Bangkok One Day Itinerary: Top Tourist Attractions And Tips

Plan Your 24-Ish Hours

Before you set out to explore Bangkok for a day, we recommend dividing your day into certain phases. This depends on how much time you actually have on you!

For example, if you’re stopping for a 20-hour layover in Bangkok, you’ll have about 16 hours to explore the city (considering the rest of the time is spent going through airport formalities). So, you’ll have to divide your 16 hours according to what you’ll prefer to do in the city. Do you want to cover most of Bangkok’s landmarks and tourist attractions or do you prefer just quietly strolling through the bylanes of the city? Plan out your itinerary accordingly.

We recommend visiting the temples and and iconic landmarks in the morning/afternoon, exploring the cafes and restaurants in the afternoon, and visiting the markets and food streets in the evening/night.

Tips For Exploring Bangkok In One Day

  • Plan your itinerary in advance for better clarity. Roughly plan how much time you intend to spend at each destination.
  • Hire a tour guide for the entirety of your duration in Bangkok – this will help you connect with the city better even within a limited time.
  • You can either rent a bike for the day or hire cabs/bikes to explore Bangkok. For the latter option, we recommend using Grab App – similar to Ola and Uber.
  • Carry cash with you at all times! For foreigners, carrying cash is the best option as you won’t have to worry about finding an ATM machine or setting up a digital wallet.
  • Use Google Translate to understand the local language in a better way.
  • Lastly, you can also book a 1-day private/group Bangkok tour from a local tour operator. This will be a more comfortable and reliable way of exploring the city, especially if you’re a first-time visitor.

Summing Up

While you can definitely take a tour of Bangkok in just within 24 hours, we recommend spending at least 2 to 3 days in the city if time permits. The vibrant Thai capital is a city that’s equally chaotic, cheerful, and peaceful – all at the same time. With plenty of temples, monuments, street markets, and cafes, Bangkok makes for the perfect destination to explore – even if you have a one day itinerary!
