Vishal Bhardwaj, the ace director behind some of the most critically and commercially successful Hindi movies like Omkara, Kaminey, Haider, and Maqbool, is back with a new directorial. After collaborating with actor Shahid Kapoor for three projects, the duo is returning with the 2026 revenge-romance drama O’ Romeo.
The plot of the film is inspired by real-life events. It is a revenge-romance drama that explores a volatile relationship between a contract killer, Ustara (Shahid Kapoor), and a woman seeking justice for her dead husband, Afsha (Tripti Dimri). The film is set in the grim Mumbai underworld and explores themes of love, revenge, justice, power, and passion.
Though Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri play the central characters, the film boasts of a starry ensemble of veterans and new-age actors. Other cast members include Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Vikrant Massey.
Primary Shooting In Mumbai
The film has been shot primarily in Mumbai, including an intense, high-octane climax. Vishal Bhardwaj and the rest of the crew have primarily shot the film in Borivali’s Bahubali Studios and Malad’s Vrundavan Studio.
O’ Romeo went on floors in January 2025, with the final leg of shooting wrapping up in October 2025. Sources close to the production revealed that some parts were shot in Spain, but a majority of the film, including its climax, was shot in Mumbai.
The crew built realistic sets inside these studios to create the setting of the grim Mumbai underworld. Additionally, both Kapoor and Tiwary underwent rigorous physical training for certain fight sequences. They practiced combat choreography for the climax, and it also involved intricate wirework and controlled explosions.
