For residents of Noida who frequently struggle with transportation between Delhi Airport and their home, there’s some good news for you! The much-awaited Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to open on October 30, 2025. According to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, commercial flights are slated to commence within 45 days of the inauguration, with plans to initially serve at least 10 cities. This announcement was made on Wednesday, September 17.
Efforts are underway to expedite the inauguration of the Noida International Airport, with a target date set for October 30. Following this, operations are expected to commence within 45 days. Airlines are keen to begin services from the new Jewar airport, as it presents significant opportunities. The first phase will connect at least ten cities, according to the minister.
Noida International Airport Will Span Across 1,334 Hectares
This project, sprawling across 1,334 hectares, will be the second major commercial airport in the National Capital Region, following Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The first phase will include a single runway and a terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 70 million in subsequent phases. Officials anticipate around six million travelers in the first operational year.
Construction has progressed to its final stages, with the runway and air traffic control (ATC) tower now complete, and terminal construction nearing completion. Key elements, such as aerobridges, baggage systems, and e-gates, are also nearing completion. The airport is expected to be fully ready by October, pending the issuance of an aerodrome license by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL), the project’s concessionaire, confirmed that essential aeronautical infrastructure is in place. They’ve begun testing systems and conducting readiness trials for airlines and ground crews. Airlines such as IndiGo and Akasa Air are already in discussions to establish services, with major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata being considered for initial flights.
While the project has previously faced delays, it is now on schedule. Additionally, the government plans to enhance passenger experiences at airports nationwide, introducing free Wi-Fi, library services, and dedicated children’s areas within the next few months.
