How Will The FASTag Annual Pass Help The Public
This new policy addresses long-standing issues at toll plazas located within a 60 km radius, simplifying toll payments with a single, affordable transaction. It is designed to reduce wait times, lessen congestion, and minimize disputes at toll booths, providing a smoother experience for millions of private vehicle owners.
The system will utilize the existing FASTag infrastructure and will eventually move towards a sensor-based collection system that employs GPS and automated vehicle tracking for barrier-free travel.
This announcement aligns with the latest improvements in tolling infrastructure, including the upcoming implementation of an ANPR-FASTag-based Barrier-Less Tolling System. This hybrid system will utilize Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and RFID-based FASTag readers, enabling automatic identification and charging of vehicles without the need to stop at toll plazas.
