According to reports from The Hindu, the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is set to enhance the tourism infrastructure in Nandi Hills by constructing a new restaurant, Mayura Sunrise, at the hill station. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated this initiative during a Cabinet meeting held at the site.

The new dining establishment is expected to feature glass walls, offering a stunning view of the scenic hill town for guests while they enjoy their meals. With a capacity of 200 seats, the restaurant will replace an older KSTDC facility that has been torn down.
Currently, KSTDC operates Mayura Pine Top, a hotel and restaurant in Nandi Hills. However, officials have noted that the increasing number of visitors has exceeded its capacity, highlighting the urgent need for a new dining option in the area.
Recent data from the KSTDC reveals a significant increase in tourist visits to Nandi Hills. In 2023, approximately 1.95 million people visited the area, and this number grew to about 2.13 million in 2024. Projections indicate that foot traffic could hit around 2.33 million in 2025 and rise to nearly 3.20 million by 2028, with an estimated annual growth rate of 9%, according to a report by The Hindu.
How To Reach Nandi Hills
Getting to Nandi Hills is quite straightforward. The most convenient way is to either drive or hire a taxi, which typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours from Bangalore. Alternatively, you can take a train to Chikkaballapur, the nearest railway station, and then catch a taxi or auto-rickshaw from there to reach the hills. If you’re considering flying, Kempegowda International Airport is the closest airport in Bangalore, and you can easily find taxis to cover the 40 km journey.
