Mumbai isn’t just a city; it’s an emotion that resonates deeply. Known as the financial capital of India, it is home to iconic spots like Marine Drive, Bandra, Kala Ghoda and more, which capture its vibrant essence. And one such iconic landmark in Mumbai is the Haji Ali Dargah, a historic mosque and shrine located in the Worli area, dating back 500 years. This site has made appearances in films such as “Fiza” and “Shootout at Wadala.” And now, Haji Ali Dargah may host the tallest national flag in the world. A proposal has been put forth to the Maharashtra government for its installation, as announced by Suhail Khandwani, trustee of the Haji Ali Dargah and the Mahim Makhdoom Shah Baba Dargah.
According to Free Press Journal, Suhail Khandwani announced plans to pitch the tallest national flag in the world on an islet located about 500 meters from the Worli coast. This site is home to the Haji Ali Dargah, which honors the esteemed 15th-century Sufi saint, Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. The Dargah is one of India’s most significant spiritual destinations, attracting millions of visitors each year.
Suhail Khandwani emphasized the dargah’s essential role in India’s history, symbolizing faith, inclusivity, and harmony among communities. The proposed flag, located near the shrine, aims to represent patriotism and unity among the nation’s diverse identities.
During the holy month of Ramzan, two Dargah trusts and the Legend group organized a special ‘sehri’ event and made this announcement. In this event, priests from various religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Parsi, Sikhism, and Buddhism, gathered in a spirit of togetherness.
