Mumbai Might Soon Get Cable Car To Beat The Traffic

Cable Car

If you are among those who face daily stress while commuting on Mumbai’s roads, you’re not alone. The escalating traffic issues, connected with rising congestion and pollution, have led authorities to explore innovative solutions to ease the situation. One such initiative is the proposed cable car service in Mumbai, which has received in-principle approval from Union Minister for Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. This was confirmed by State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. Here are the details.

According to Pratap Sarnaik, a comprehensive survey for the cable car project will be executed soon. And based on the results, a development plan will be established. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance urban transportation in the region by relieving the burden on the existing transport infrastructure.

The project is planned to be implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It will foster collaboration between central and state governments for financial support. The cable car system aims to connect areas of Mumbai that are currently struggling with rapid urban growth.

The cable car promises to substantially reduce travel times, particularly for those commuting between the suburbs and the airport.

A thorough survey will be carried out soon to evaluate the feasibility of the project. And based on its results, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be developed. Stay tuned for upcoming developments.
