Shutdown Of Dubai, Doha, And Abu Dhabi Airspace: How Does It Affect Global Air Travel?

The airspace over Dubai is one of the most crucial ones in the world. In fact, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the world’s busiest airport. It links a number of international locations in the West with those in the East, acting as a major gateway connecting the two sides of the globe, quite literally.

Middle East Airspace

Many flight maps showed airspaces over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel, and Bahrain virtually empty, whereas airlines across Europe and the Middle East have announced a number of cancelled, suspended, or rerouted flights.

Many major regional gateways, including Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi were closed following the Iran-Israel conflict. As Dubai and Doha sit at the intersection of global travel across the east-west, any delay or prolonged shutdown of its airports leads to ripples, in the form of delays and cancellations far beyond the region. This leads to airlines around the world to delay, reroute, or cancel their flights.

Summing Up

If you or someone you know is stranded in any of the Middle East countries or anywhere around the world due to the repercussions of the Iran-Israel conflict, kindly stay calm. Keep a tab on the updates released by the nearest Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate as well as airlines in that country / region.
