If you want to explore a new destination, a little far off, you can visit Ooty or Darjeeling.

With fewer tourists and lower rates, this place is a must-visit in the monsoon.

People think that visiting beach destinations during monsoons is a wrong idea, but if you ask us, there are many perks to the same. You can get to experience the destination a bit better with fewer crowds and serene surroundings. Witnessing the greenery around with majestic green mountains, exploring water activities, and relishing delicious seafood make beach destinations worth visiting during the monsoon.

Goa: Goa is the first beach destination that crosses our mind every time we think of beach destinations. Visiting Goa in monsoons is more about slowing down, feeling the rain, witnessing the natural beauty, and experiencing the local warm cuisine. Visit the less appreciated, hidden gems during your monsoon visit to Goa and come back with an unforgettable experience.

Visit: Fontainhas, Chorao’s backwater routes, Keri beach, Patnem beach, and Divar Island.

Gokarna: Gokarna is known to be the Goa of Karnataka. If you are seeking solitude and natural beauty, this is the place for you. With fewer tourists, you get to witness the real beauty of the beaches and the town. The hills and valleys here come alive with green foliage and offer a lovely background to the temples here. Some beaches might not be accessible, but you can visit the beautiful temples for a spiritual experience.

Royal Destinations

Visiting royal destinations during monsoon can be magical. Walking in the royal palaces with rain in the backdrop will make you feel like the Rani or Raja from a Bollywood movie. I mean, who doesn’t like main character energy? Plus, fewer tourists, too!

Udaipur: The city of lakes turns into a lush green paradise during monsoon. All the lakes are filled, making them look like mirrors on the ground under the lovely cloudy sky. The weather is nice and cool, with fewer tourists to enjoy the serenity of the place. Be it walking down the rain-washed streets or walking in the royal palaces, feeling like royalty, Udaipur is not to be missed in monsoons.

Visit: City Palace, Bagore ki Haveli, Old City Walks, Fateh Sagar Lake

Jaipur: The infamous pink city of Rajasthan is way more beautiful and photogenic during monsoons. The desert landscape is transformed into a green spot, and if you love rain, this is the place you must visit. Its iconic pink sandstone architecture turns into soft rose gold-glow during monsoons. The unique blend of nature, culture, and heritage is not to be missed.

Tips

  • Make sure you stay updated with weather conditions because when it’s monsoons, you never know when it might pour heavily, disrupting your serene experience.
  • It is possible to face delays due to slow trains or road blockages, or flight delays, so brace yourself and have a plan with buffer time.
  • Make sure that you book stays that have flexible rescheduling and cancellation policies because you never know. Also, look out for options that have hot water and backup power, because if the rain gets heavy, you might have to stay indoors for a longer time.
  • Drive safely if you are opting for road trips. Get your vehicles checked well before you begin. Also, avoid driving up hills or on slippery roads, especially at night. Drive slowly, keep your headlights on, and maintain distance.
  • Keep your medicines handy as monsoon and climate change might lead to cold, cough, and fever, especially if you have kids with you.
  • Pack according to the weather. Don’t miss out on raincoats, umbrellas, and waterproof bags to keep your electronic gadgets safe.
