Maharashtra Government To Allow Flexible Reporting Time For Women Employees In Mumbai

On Tuesday, 10th March, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar of Maharashtra announced a new initiative aimed at providing flexible working hours for female state government employees within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The program, named “Come Early, Go Early,” will allow women to choose their starting time between 9:15 AM and 9:45 AM. They will also have the option to leave work early in the evening by the same amount of time as their adjusted start time, provided they complete the necessary hours of work.

Pawar emphasized that this initiative could substantially relieve the challenges women face during peak commuting times. She shared her announcement during a legislative council meeting that celebrated International Women’s Day, reiterating the government’s dedication to the comprehensive advancement of women.

Additionally, Pawar highlighted various economic empowerment programs aimed at women, including initiatives like Ladki Bahin, Namo Mahila Sakshamikaran, Lek Ladki, Annapurna, and Lakhpati Didi. This announcement reflects a commitment to creating a supportive environment that ensures respect, safety, and ample opportunities for women in the workforce.
