Why Lucknow Airport Will Shut Day Flights Till July 2025

Runway Upgrade Work At Lucknow Airport

The CCSIA Lucknow will be getting a carpeting makeover on its primary runway, namely Runway 09/27. It is expected that this makeover will near completion by 15th July, 2025. The makeover will commence from 10 AM and end at 6 PM daily. However, the catch is that, during this duration, no flights will operate on the runway.

Scheduled flights before 10 AM and after 6 PM will operate as per their timings, but the runway will not be operational during the carpeting period of 10 AM to 6 PM.

Runway

The runway that is being upgraded is about 2,744 meters long, 45 meters wide, and has a 7.5 meter shoulder on each side. The upgrade is being planned in 2025 as it was last upgraded way back in 2018 and needed infrastructure improvements. Aviation companies have been informed of this move and they’ve consented to this infrastructure upgrade.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, is handling the runway upgrade work. AAHL is planning to improve the overall experience of air travel in India and this project is just one of the several projects they are undertaking to improve India’s airport infrastructure.

Lucknow Airport authorities are chalking out a detailed strategy to ensure that air traffic is handled efficiently during this makeover. Despite the upgrading work, the Lucknow Airport will operate on a regular basis, and around 132 daily flights will land and depart from here.

Other Major Upgrades At Lucknow Airport

Not just upgrading the primary runway at CSSIA Lucknow, but soon the airport will be seen launching a brand new full-length taxiway measuring 2,744 meters. This taxiway is aimed to enhance operational efficiency and facilitate a quicker aircraft movement.

Apart from the new taxiway, the airfield ground lighting will also see major upgrades. The existing halogens will be replaced with LEDs. The airport signage will also be improved to reduce power consumption by 50%.

Summing Up

The runway carpeting project as well as the construction of a new parallel taxiway and ground lighting improvements will start from 1st March and are expected to wrap up by 15th July. Flights will be operational before 10 AM and after 6 PM, so we recommend that if you’re flying to or from Lucknow, plan your flights in advance.
