In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the events of Operation Sindoor, the All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association (ALHAGHA) has announced the provision of free lodging for tourists stranded in the region. This decision was reached during an urgent executive meeting held earlier on 7th May.
In an official statement, ALHAGHA emphasized the importance of supporting guests during such unforeseen circumstances, stating, “This decision comes at a time when the hospitality sector must prioritize care and assistance for visitors facing unexpected challenges.” The association confirmed that tourists whose outbound flights were canceled will be permitted to remain at their current hotels without incurring any additional costs.

Ladakh Offers Free Stay Amid Flight Cancelations Because Of Mock Drills And Operation Sindoor
ALHAGHA has urged its members to fully cooperate in executing this initiative, ensuring that affected tourists feel secure and cared for during this difficult time. Additionally, the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) expressed strong support for the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Operation Sindoor.
Several airlines, including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa, have canceled flights due to recent developments related to Operation Sindoor. Consequently, numerous domestic carriers have suspended services from Leh to Bhuj, which is close to the Pakistan border. This disruption has also affected operations to other destinations like Dharamshala, Jammu, Srinagar, Jodhpur, and Amritsar, as major airlines have released alerts regarding flight cancellations.
If you are in Ladakh, stay in your hotel, and once the flights are operational, you can head back home. For those traveling or planning to travel to the above-mentioned places soon, make sure to check for the travel advisories before flying.
