Jog Falls To Remain Closed For Visitors Until March 2025

Jog Falls

Jog Falls, renowned as one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Karnataka and among the highest plunge waterfalls in India, will be closed to the public from January 1 to March 15, 2025. This announcement has been made by the district authorities in Sagara taluk, Shivamogga district, Karnataka. The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate ongoing developmental works. With a stunning drop of 253 meters (830 feet), Jog Falls remains a spectacular natural attraction.

The development project at Jog Falls is about improving visitors’ experience. They plan to build a new main entrance and update important facilities like restrooms, pathways, and viewing areas. The district administration, along with the Jog Management Authority, is working hard to keep any disruptions to visitors during this construction to a minimum. Authorities have asked the public for patience and cooperation as these improvements are implemented.

Jog Falls, the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, has been featured in numerous movies and is a must-see attraction. Especially during the monsoon season, the beauty of this waterfall is unmatched. Although the falls are currently closed to visitors for maintenance, plan your visit between June and August to truly experience the magnificent flow of water.

To reach the falls, you can take a train from Bangalore or Mangalore to Shimoga or Talguppa. Shimoga is well-connected via regular services. However, you must note that entry to the base may be restricted at times. Also, the water flow can vary with the seasons.

Lastly, the entry fee for Jog Falls is INR 10 per person.
