IndiGo Becomes First Indian Airline To Induct Airbus A321XLR, Expands Long-Haul Network

IndiGo, one of the top airlines in India, is back in the news, but this time for a positive reason. The airline has welcomed the Airbus A321XLR into its fleet, marking a significant step in its plans for future international growth. The long-range A321neo variant landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on January 7th. It will be deployed from January 23, 2026, when IndiGo will launch direct flights from Mumbai to Athens, and from Delhi to Athens on January 24, 2026, with three flights per week on each route.

The Airbus A321XLR, known for its next-generation efficiency and a range of up to 8,700 kilometers, allows IndiGo to expand its international offerings while keeping costs low.

Airbus A321XLR Offers 12 IndiGoStretch And 183 Economy Class Seats

IndiGo’s new Airbus A321XLR is designed to enhance the travel experience with 12 IndiGoStretch seats arranged in a 2X2 layout, featuring an impressive 44-inch seat pitch and 6-inch recline. The aircraft also includes 183 Economy Class seats with a 31-inch seat pitch and 5-inch recline. Equipped with advanced RECARO seating, passengers will enjoy improved comfort, lumbar support, and features like adjustable headrests and in-seat power. To keep travelers entertained, a collaboration with Bluebox offers a digital in-flight entertainment platform with a variety of content. Additionally, complimentary hot meals, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, and alcoholic beverages will be available.

With a fleet of over 400 aircraft, the airline operates more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting over 95 domestic and 40 international destinations. It welcomed more than 118 million customers in 2025. You can book your tickets through IndiGo’s website or app.
