Best Time To Visit Kuno National Park
The national park lies in the tropical belt of India. It is about 180 meters to 500 meters above mean sea level. With mid-June to September being its wettest months, the park receives almost 90% of its rainfall in these months. During these months, it is generally not advisable to visit the national park.
From October to mid-March, the weather is pleasant, cool, and conducive for visiting the national park. December and January are particularly known as peak months, seeing the most number of visitors in the national park. With average temperatures being below 20 degree celsius, these months are ideal for a safari experience at Kuno.
However, it is also advisable to avoid visiting the park during March and June. This is because these months are typically hotter, with average temperatures sometimes reaching 42.3 degree celsius! Avoid these months as you’ll likely face high temperatures and dry, dusty winds.

By Air
Gwalior Airport is the closest to the national park, located about 160 km to 175 km away. The actual distance depends on the entry gate you’re alighting at – Tiktoli, Ahera, or Pipalbawdi. You can hire direct cabs from the airport to the national park or the accommodation you’re staying at.
By Rail
Gwalior Junction is a major railway station well-connected to most other railway stations around the region. It is about 107 km away from the national park, and you can hire a direct cab to reach your destination. Alternatively, Jhansi (approx 200 km), and Sawai Madhopur (approx 133 km) are other major railway stations closest to the national park. Many long-distance express trains from different parts of India halt at these stations, making it easy for travelers from around the country to visit the national park.

By road, cities like Sawai Madhopur (133 to 145 km) and Gwalior (158 to 165 km) are the closest major hubs to the national park.
