ASC ARJUN Robot: A First-Of-Its-Kind Initiative

The name “ACS ARJUN” stands for Advanced Security & Crowd-Management Humanoid Robot. This humanoid robot was unveiled by RPF Inspector General Alok Bohra and Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra, in the presence of senior RPF officials like Senior Divisional Security Commandant A.K. Dubey, on January 23, 2026, in Vishakhapatnam.

ACS ARJUN Robot has been developed using indigenous technology by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Vishakhapatnam. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative by Indian railways which also marks India’s push for self-reliance. The total cost incurred in its development is about INR 20 Lakh.

ASC ARJUN Robot: Features

ASC ARJUN Robot is an AI-powered humanoid robot that stands about 165 cm tall and moves around on its own. This robot is designed to work as a helpful security guard for busy railway stations in India.

Features of ACR ARJUN Robot In Station

  • The robot easily identifies intruders and criminals through its face recognition system (FRS). As soon as it identifies criminals, it can provide instant alerts to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
  • It sends IoT-enabled alerts about suspicious activities to the control room (RPF).
  • The robot provides early warnings to RPF by easily detecting smoke or fire.
  • It analyses passenger density using AI-based crowd monitoring. This helps in managing crowds and preventing congestion, especially during peak hours.
  • ASC ARJUN is capable of navigating through crowded platforms by easily avoiding obstacles.
  • It can perform 24/7 patrolling through semi-autonomous navigation.
  • The robot can do multilingual announcements about safety and information in English, Telugu, and Hindi.
  • It salutes RPF personnel and also greets passengers with a ‘Namaste’.
