The Orange Line is famously known as the Airport Express Line. The metro line starts from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector – 25. The line links Indira Gandhi International Airport to many parts of Delhi. With a length of 22.7 km, about 15.7 km being underground, the line runs at a speed of 120 km/hour. 

The line was originally scheduled to open in time for the 2010 Commonwealth Games but opened in 2011. The line runs from New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21, passing through the IGI Airport.

Choosing the right metro line depends on which terminal your flight operates from. Here’s how you can travel to and from the different terminals:

  • T3: Take the Orange Line to the IGI Airport T3 station located directly beneath Terminal 3 with basement-level access to the departure area.
  • T2: Use the Orange Line to reach the IGI Airport T3 station Then follow the signed and covered walkway to reach Terminal 2.
  • T1: Take the Magenta Line to the Terminal 1 – IGI Airport station. There is a dedicated covered walkway that connects the metro station to the terminal building.

Orange Line Airport Express: Timings, Fares, And Stations

The line has a length of 22.7 km with the journey from New Delhi to the IGI Airport taking about 10 to 15 minutes.

The first ride starts at about 4:45 AM and the last ride takes place at around 11:15 PM. 

Minimum and maximum fares for the Delhi Metro Airport Line is between INR 10 and INR 50.

Airport Express Metro interchange stations are as follows:

  • Dwarka Sector 21: Blue Line
  • New Delhi: Yellow Line

All airport express stations are equipped with last-mile connectivity options to ensure a smooth and seamless travel. Commuters can easily find e-rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, prepaid taxi booths, and cluster buses at most stations. At some stations there are also cycle stands to ensure more seamless and environment-friendly connectivity. At most stations, there are pay-and-park facilities available for commuters.

You can also use the DMRC Smart Card, on-site token vending machines, UPI-based ticket counters, or the Delhi Metro Rail App to book your tickets.
