The highly anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, October 8. After multiple delays, the airport will finally open its doors. It was built through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between Mumbai International Airport Ltd. (a subsidiary of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd.), which holds a 74 per cent stake, and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. (CIDCO), which holds the remaining 26 per cent. Just ahead of its launch, some exclusive images of the airport have been shared.
Navi Mumbai International Airport will feature four terminals spread across 2,866 acres. Its architecture is inspired by the lotus, which is India’s national flower. The design includes 12 sculptural columns resembling unfurling petals, referred to as anchors. Additionally, there are 17 large columns that serve as unseen pillars, supporting the lotus-shaped roof canopies.
