Ganesh Chaturthi has wrapped up in Maharashtra and other states, and now we eagerly look forward to the vibrant celebration of Durga Puja in September. Beginning on September 28, Kolkata will come alive as the city embodies the essence of this festival. For five days, the streets are transformed into a colorful spectacle filled with rhythm, artistry, and devotion. And as the festivities approach, Indian Railways is improving the celebratory spirit by introducing special air-conditioned trains for travelers heading to Kolkata. These trains will accommodate the increased holiday traffic, offering a more comfortable travel experience. The Eastern Railway has planned multiple special train services specifically for Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
The new air-conditioned services aim to offer both convenience and affordability, operating on key suburban routes, such as Sealdah-Bongaon and Sealdah-Krishnanagar. Passengers will benefit from reduced overcrowding on standard trains, ensuring a hassle-free journey.
For Durga Puja 2025, Eastern Railway Has Also Launched Fare For These Trains
On the Sealdah-Bongaon route, the train will extend to Ranaghat, passing through various stations like Bidhannagar, Dumdum, and Habra. Meanwhile, the Sealdah-Krishnanagar City Junction service will stop at stations including Belgharia, Sodepur, and Naihati.
In addition, AC local trains – already operational between Ranaghat and Sealdah have received positive feedback from passengers. Each 12-coach train can accommodate over 1,100 passengers and features automatic sliding doors and CCTV cameras for safety.
As Durga Puja approaches, the addition of these AC locals will surely relieve the crowds eager to visit iconic pandals and immerse themselves in the festivities, making the journey smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

It costs Rs 35 to reach Dum Dum Cantonment; Rs 60 for Madhyamgram and Barasat; Rs 85 for Dattapukur; Rs 90 for Habra; Rs 105 for both Gobardanga and Thakurnagar; and Rs 120 for Bongaon.
