‘Catch flights, not feelings’ may be a mantra we all live by, but when flights get delayed, it can throw everything off track. Whether caused by weather conditions or technical issues, delays, while sometimes understandable often come with added frustrations. One major pain point is the steep cost of food and beverages at airports, which not only burns a hole in our pockets but also leaves us with a sour experience.

While flight delays are often beyond our control, there’s good news for passengers regarding meals during these situations. In a move to enhance passenger experience, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated that airlines provide complimentary refreshments during delays.

Under this directive, airlines must serve beverages and snacks to passengers for delays of two to four hours. For delays exceeding four hours, full meals are now a requirement. This initiative aims to make the waiting time a little more bearable. Furthermore, it also aims to ensure that passengers feel cared for during disruptions.

The advisory comes as Delhi and other cities enter the fog season. This season is known for disrupting air travel due to low visibility. To address this, the DGCA is issuing guidelines to ensure passengers are better cared for during delays.

With airlines now required to provide refreshments, travelers can expect a more comfortable experience.
