The government has officially inaugurated a 3.5 km segment of the Expressway connecting Delhi and Dehradun. Once it is fully operational, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced from 6.5 hours to 2.5 hours. This 3.5 km stretch, from Daat Kali to Asharodi, is now complete and accessible. Previously, only three lanes were in use, but now all six lanes are functional, facilitating smoother and more efficient travel between the areas.
The six-lane Delhi to Dehradun Expressway spans 212 km and was constructed for Rs 12,000 crore. It is divided into four sections, starting near Akshardham in Delhi and including routes through the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and Mandola at the Khekra interchange. The route continues through Uttar Pradesh, passing through Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur, before reaching its destination in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The Delhi to Dehradun Expressway is set to enhance travel between the two cities. Once completed, the initial 18km from Akshardham Temple to Loni will be free of tolls. This will ensure a smooth ride for commuters.
Additionally, a 12km elevated section will be built over Rajaji National Park to safeguard wildlife. This will make it the second Indian highway with a wildlife protection corridor after NH-44. This modern expressway will feature underpasses, pedestrian bridges, and elevated areas. It will contribute to a safer and more efficient journey for everyone.
