To promote tourism and allow travellers to discover both India and its neighbouring countries, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. (IRCTC) is introducing this exciting tour. The Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour will be a 14-day journey and will start from New Delhi.

Along the route, travelers will visit Guwahati, Shillong, and Cherrapunji before heading to Hasimara Railway Station in West Bengal, from where travelers will proceed to Phuentsholing, the border town for entry into Bhutan. Over the next six days, travelers will explore Thimphu, Punakha (the former capital), and Paro, renowned for its natural beauty and sacred landmarks.

The 14-day epic travel will kick off at Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station, first stopping in Guwahati, Assam. Tourists will visit the Kamakhya Temple, situated in the heart of Nilachal Hills, before heading to Shillong, often referred to as ‘Eastern Scotland’ for its stunning landscapes and rich culture. After viewing a sunset at the Umiam Lake viewpoint, guests will stay overnight in Meghalaya.
The following day, they will travel to Cherrapunji, known for its heavy rainfall. Nestled on the edge of the Himalayas, tourists will visit the breathtaking ‘Seven Sisters’ waterfalls along with the famous Nohkalikai and Elephant Falls. The Mawsamai caves will also showcase unique formations and underground pools.
After staying in Shillong for a night, tourists will continue exploring the area before returning to Guwahati. Their day will conclude with a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River before boarding the train to Hasimara, the nearest railway station to the Bhutan border.
The next morning, the train will arrive at Hasimara, from where tourists will head to the Phuentsholing immigration checkpoint, located 20 kilometers away.
Bharat-Bhutan Mystic Mountain Tour Will Cover Thimphu, Paro And Punakha In Bhutan
Following immigration procedures, travelers will enter Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. The Bhutan trip will include exploring places in Thimphu, Paro and Punakha. From historic places to fortresses and the National Library, the trip will be filled with culturally rich landmarks and experiences.
The next day will be spent visiting local attractions, including Motithang Zoo, a painting school, the National Library, and Thimphu Handicrafts. The day will wrap up at Tashi Chho Dzong, a magnificent fortress that also serves as a monastery and the central government office of Bhutan. Additional locations will also be included based on the schedule.
