Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line Set For Mid-August Launch After Safety Clearance Begins

Yellow Line

Attention residents of Bengaluru! If you frequently rely on the metro to navigate the city and avoid traffic, particularly during peak hours, we have exciting news. The Yellow Line of Namma Metro, which connects Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road (RV Road) to Bommasandra, is undergoing its final safety evaluations. These evaluations will be conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) from July 22 to July 25, covering approximately 18.82 kilometers.

This new line is set to enhance connectivity across Bengaluru, helping to alleviate traffic jams and allowing direct transfers with the Green and Pink Lines. However, it has experienced several delays and missed previous deadlines.

Recent updates suggest that the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to officially launch the Yellow Line this August. At the outset, three trains will operate on this route, with expectations to increase the frequency and add more trains in the future. The safety checks will focus on assessing the condition of the tracks, evaluating the safety of elevated sections, and ensuring that the stations meet operational standards.

The Yellow Line Will Cover 18.82KM km And Connect With Green, Blue And Pink Lines

The Yellow Line is set to welcome approximately 25,000 daily passengers when it launches with three trains in August. This new line will enhance access to Electronic City, a significant hub for major IT companies like Infosys and Biocon, while also helping to ease congestion at the Silk Board Junction. Residents in areas such as BTM Layout, HSR Layout, and the Bommasandra Industrial Area will benefit from improved connectivity, making commuting more efficient.

Additionally, the Yellow Line will connect seamlessly with the existing Green, Blue, and Pink Lines, facilitating smoother transit across the city. This initiative is designed to reduce road traffic and promote the use of the metro, particularly in key tech corridors. The line will feature several stations, including RV Road (interchange with the Green Line), Jayadeva Hospital (future interchange with the Pink Line), and Bommasandra, which will serve as the terminal station, among others.
