Following the adjustment, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the revised fares. The lowest fare is now set at Rs 10, while the highest has risen significantly to Rs 90. This marks a 50 per cent increase from the previous maximum fare of Rs 60.
Following the hike, the travel fares are structured as follows: for distances up to 2 kilometers (Km), the fare is Rs 10. From 2 km to 4 km, it’s Rs 20; for 4 km to 6 km, the cost is Rs 30; from 6 km to 8 km, the fare is Rs 40; for distances between 8 km and 10 km, it’s Rs 50; from 10 km to 12 km, the fee is Rs 60; for 15 km to 20 km, the charge is Rs 70; from 20 km to 25 km, it is Rs 80. And lastly, distances of 25 km and above will cost Rs 90.
The recent fare increase for Namma Metro follows a 15 per cent rise in government bus fares in Karnataka. Many commuters are feeling frustrated, as there are growing worries about the rising costs of public transport. What do you think about this situation?
