The Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated on January 22, 2024, and covers an area of 71 acres. This three-story temple is constructed in the traditional Nagara architectural style. It utilizes pink sandstone sourced from the Mirzapur and Bansi-Paharpur regions in Rajasthan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the temple, which cost approximately Rs 1,800 crore to build. Since its opening, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir has attracted a massive number of visitors, bringing in over 55 million pilgrims from across India and around the world, according to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government on June 27.
Out of a total of 55 million visitors, around 450,000 were VIPs. It includes Union ministers, governors, state chief ministers, and notable figures from entertainment, business, and sports, who have paid their respects at the temple. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh has taken steps to ensure that the arrangements for darshan are efficient and user-friendly, allowing all visitors—ordinary devotees and VIPs alike — to enjoy a smooth experience. With Lord Ram now placed on the temple’s first floor, visitor numbers are expected to increase more in the coming days.
