Indian airline carrier Air India has been at the epicenter of news, controversies, and events after the unfortunate plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. After the incident, Air India had paused many of its international flights for a safety check. However, now Air India is eyeing to restore a few international flights from August 1, 2025 and reduce a few as well. The full restoration program is expected to begin from October 1, 2025.

ToggleWhy Air India Paused Many Of Its Flights
According to an official statement by Air India, “The partial resumption will see restoration of some frequencies from 1st August, relative to July, with full restoration planned from 1st October 2025”.
After the unfortunate June 12 incident, Air India took a pause on many international flights and focused on performing precautionary checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft. The pause also allowed Air India to accommodate longer flying times arising from airspace closures over Pakistan and the Middle East.
Know About The Reduced And Suspended Flights
What’s also note-worthy is that it has announced a reduction in the number of flights operating on certain routes. From August 1 to September 30, 2025, Air India will only operate three weekly flights from Ahmedabad to London’s Heathrow Airport. Earlier, Air India was operating five flights between Ahmedabad and London’s Gatwick Airport.
Air India will also reduce flights to Melbourne and Sydney, two major Australian cities. It will now fly only five weekly flights instead of the earlier seven weekly flights.
Flights between Delhi and major international cities like Birmingham, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen will also continue to operate on fewer frequencies than usual.
Not just that, but the number of Air India flights flying to several North American cities like Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco will also remain slightly reduced than the previous frequency.
Air India’s official statement also mentions that routes like the Amritsar-London, Goa-London, Bengaluru-Singapore, and Pune-Singapore will remain temporarily suspended till September 30.
Air India: Know About The Limited Flight Restoration
On the other hand, Air India has restored the previously curtailed 24 weekly flights between Delhi and London Heathrow from July 16 onwards.
From August 1, Air India will operate one additional weekly flight from Delhi to Zurich (Switzerland) – earlier four weekly flights operated between the two cities.
Not just that, but it will resume its full daily service between Delhi and Tokyo as well as resume five weekly flights between Delhi and Seoul from September 1.
Flights between Amritsar and Birmingham will be at a frequency of two weekly flights until August 31 and then go back to the previous frequency of three weekly flights from September.
While the Delhi-Nairobi flight services will remain functional thrice a week until August 31, services between the two cities will remain suspended through September.
In another official statement, Air India stated, “As the schedule reductions taken as part of the Safety Pause had been implemented until 31st July 2025 and the restoration to full operation is being phased, some services initially planned to operate between 1st August and 30th September 2025 will be removed from the schedule”.
