1. Visit The Public Library
Nothing compares to the smell of old books with worn-out pages and lots of stories to tell. That’s why, after landing in Agatti and freshening up in your room, the first place you want to go is the Public Library. The location is also perfectly suited for a library as it’s in a quaint building right around the street’s corner!
Before entering the library, you’ll need to remove your footwear out on the street. And don’t underestimate the collection they have! Once you step inside, you’ll be entranced by the vast collection of classics, magazines, and contemporary novels. You’ll also find the people of Agatti having their noses buried in a newspaper or a book, giving you a refreshing scenery of people engaging in reading rather than tapping away on their phones.
2. Check Out The Golden Jubilee Museum
You’ve taken a little sneak peek into the lives of the people on Agatti Island and visited an impressive library. Now, you can visit the Golden Jubilee Museum for a peep into the history of Lakshadweep. The museum is within walking distance from the library, making it a convenient stop!
This two-storied museum has exhibits from the 9th and 12th century. The ground floor has a huge collection of Lord Buddha’s busts and the upstairs floors have a grand display of wooden chests and gold coins. After a walk through the museum, you’d have detailed information about how Lakshadweep was even before the era of Islam’s arrival. Informational, indeed!
3. Relax At Lagoon Beach
Now that we’ve covered the educational part of Agatti, we’ll move to the more fun part of the holiday. After a filling lunch, put on your beach clothes and get ready to have your breath taken away. Lagoon Beach is one of the serene beaches in Lakshadweep that doesn’t see much crowd.
The ideal time to visit Lagoon Beach is during the evening when the sun disappears behind the horizon and leaves its reflection in the water and the sky. Along with a beautiful view unwinding in front of you, there’s also water sports for you to do! Agatti is one of the only islands to have a proper course to teach you how to dive and snorkel safely.
Spend time on the beach until your heart is full and stomach empty because it’s time to end the day with a hearty dinner. See you tomorrow!
