International Passenger Trials To Begin At Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Other Major Airports
Digi Yatra international trials are about to begin from November 1, 2026 at 7 major airports. These include Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Mumbai, Chennai, and Amritsar airports.
The new beta testing will allow eligible Indian e-passport holders traveling on Air India and IndiGo to use facial-recognition-enabled processing at select checkpoints in their journey. Passengers will be able to use Digi Yatra at terminal entry points, security hold areas, and boarding gates where the required infrastructure is available.

How To Use Digital Identification Credentials Through The Digi Yatra App?

To enrol, travelers must scan their e-passport through the Digi Yatra App, read the passport chip using the near-field communication feature on a compatible smartphone and take a selfie. After verification, the digital identification credentials are stored in the Digi Yatra wallet on the passenger’s phone. This credential can be used at enabled airport touchpoints during the trials. However, passengers must continue to carry their travel documents and completely mandatory airline document checks, immigration process, and other travel formalities.
