To grapple with the upcoming rush of travelers for the festive season, Indian Railways (IR) has announced more than 100 special trains. These special trains will connect major travel hubs across cities in states such as Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.
In addition to this, the state is also adding more coaches to its regularly scheduled trains in order to further accommodate the festive travel season rush. From train numbers to their routes, here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this new travel-related update.
Indian Railways Announces Special Trains For Festive Season
Given that major festivals across the country, including Chhath Puja, Durga Puja, and Diwali, are fast approaching, Indian Railways has announced more than 100 special trains to accommodate the large number of people traveling.

The following are some of the special trains that have been announced by the IR:
1. 01925/01926 Kanpur Central-Madurai: Will run weekly from September to November.
2. 09424/09423 Ahmedabad-Mangaluru Junction: Will run weekly from September to November.
3. 09189/09190 Mumbai Central-Katihar: Will run weekly from September to November.
4. 07097/07098 Hyderabad-Mangaluru Central: Will run weekly from September to November.
5. 04131/04132 Kanpur Central-SMVT Bengaluru: Will run weekly from September to November.
6. 08311/08312 Sambalpur-Podanur: Will run weekly from September to November.
7. 07035/07036 Secunderabad-Sirpur Kaghaznagar: Will run weekly from September to November.
8. 04127/04128 Kanpur Central-Guwahati: Will operate from September to December.
The following trains will have increased capacity and/or will make additional trips to accommodate the festive season:
1. 04103/04104 Subedarganj-Panvel: 22 LHB Coaches
2. 06028/06027 Podanur-Dr MGR Chennai Central: One extra AC Chair Car and Chair Car.
3. 08581/08582 Visakhapatnam-SMVT Bengaluru: Additional trips
4. 08045/08046 Shalimar-Charlapalli: 24 coaches, including AC, sleeper, and general.
5. 08047/08048 Santragachi-Naharlagun: Will run three additional trips in September.
6. 05932/05931 Dibrugarh-Kolkata: Will get 13 additional trips and 22 coaches.
7. 03129/03130 Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri: Will operate on weekends with general, sleeper, and AC coaches.
