This move will make travel to Uzbekistan for 30 days or less completely visa-free for Indian passport holders. The move was announced by the president of the country, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on Sunday. The move was announced on August 30, 2026, when the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, paid a state visit to the country for two days. The president of Uzbekistan talked about the booming trade relations between the two countries and expressed his hope to further bolster them. He also mentioned that he saw India as a reliable strategic partner.
What Documents Do You Need?
Even though Indian passport holders no longer need a visa to enter Uzbekistan, you still need other valid documents to secure entry. This includes a passport with at least six months of remaining validity as well as a return or onward flight ticket.
It is also important to note that in case you’re visiting Uzbekistan for more than 30 days, or for purposes other than tourism (like for work or study), you still need a valid visa.

India was among the first countries to recognize the sovereignty of Uzbekistan after its independence. Uzbekistan and India established their diplomatic ties on March 18, 1992, after signing a protocol in Tashkent.
