From June 6 onwards, commuting for Mumbaikars is all set to get smoother. The Mrinal Tai Gore Flyover Extension is officially going to open. This new extension is slated to reduce traffic gridlock in the bustling region of Goregaon. The new flyover extension is expected to link the areas of Ram Mandir and Goregaon, providing motorists with an uninterrupted and high-capacity bridge. Given the commercial areas in the region, daily peak-hour traffic is expected to reduce substantially.

The Mrinal Tai Gore Flyover Extension, which has been awaited for a long time, is finally going to open on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The extension has four lanes and stretches across 750 meters, carrying traffic flow over congested areas.

The bridge has two dedicated structural arms that measure around 390 meters each in length. These arms are put in place specifically to evenly distribute both incoming and outgoing traffic effectively.

Why Did The Project Take Seven Years To Finish?
While the original stretch of this bridge was opened way back in 2016, the extension has faced several roadblocks and challenges, leading to a significant delay. It began construction in 2019 and was slated to open in 2021. However, owing to the pandemic, the project was delayed.

After this initial delay, the project faced several challenges, such as an increase in prices of materials, structural and engineering issues, and more. The total cost of this extension project ended up being INR 248 crores from the initial budget of INR 209 crores.
