Travelling to Kashmir this monsoon season? You might have to rework your travel plans if you’re going by flight. The Srinagar International Airport has recently announced that it will remain closed for two days every week from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026. The airport is being shut for runway repair work, and the schedule for it was proposed by the Indian Air Force (IAF). Furthermore, come October, the airport will shut down fully.

The plan of maintenance is currently in its advanced stages. Once approved, certain changes in the operation schedule will take place. Between July and September, flight operations will only happen from Wednesday to Sunday.

The runway will be unavailable for flight operations on Mondays and Tuesdays in these months. In addition to this, certain restrictions for check-in baggage have also been put in place for returning Hajj Pilgrims.

Full Closure Of The Airport From October
The returning flights will be rerouted through Ahmedabad, where the 35 kg of the passengers’ checked baggage will be split into two. From Ahmedabad, passengers will only be allowed to carry five kg of luggage on the flight.

The remaining 30 kg will be packed and shipped to them by road. From October 1, the airport will fully shut down for a total of 16 days.
