Bengaluru is all set to get its very first inter-district metro line. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that it is planning a metro line from Bengaluru to Tumakuru. They have already submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) about the matter. It is slated to be an expansion of the currently operational Green Line of the metro. From length to travel time, here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this new metro connection in Bengaluru.

The starting point of this line is Madavara (BEIC), and the end point will be Sira Gate in Tumakuru. The total length of the route is approximately 60 kilometers, and it will have a total of 16 stations.

Furthermore, the travel time between Bengaluru and Tumakuru will be almost halved. As of now, it takes almost two hours to travel between the two districts. However, once the line is completed, it will take only an hour to traverse between the two districts.

Karnataka’s First Inter-District Metro
This will be the first inter-district metro that Karnataka has received. The DPR submitted by the BMRCL mentions two financial plans that the government can take. The first is to let the BMRCL execute the line directly, which will cost around INR 18,000 crore.

The second is to form a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. This will cost INR 20,000 crore. The new line is also estimated to give a major boost to the real estate around the major proposed stations.
