Noto Satoyama Pokémon Airport Welcomes Pokemon-Themed Decor
Japan’s Noto Satoyama Airport will become the world’s first Pokemon-themed airport. The airport will be the first airport to bear a Pokemon name and branding. This special branding will be in place from July 7, 2026 to September 30, 2029. During this period, the airport will feature 111 Pokemon characters.
As part of the changes, the logo will now feature Pikachu sitting on a plane with a Poke Ball in the background. There will also be a large balloon of the same design on the two-storey atrium of the airport. However, Pokemon fans must note that mega evolutions and regional forms will not be featured, according to the airport.
In the first floor arrivals lobby, fans will be greeted by a mural that is a nod to Noto’s nature titled “A Bright Future”. Outside, the pillars have been decorated with Pokemon characters that will create an exciting, fun-friendly atmosphere. The theme will continue on the second floor, with walls and pillars depicting various Pokemon.

An Initiative Aimed At Revitalizing The Noto Peninsula Area
This renaming is taking place as part of a proposed plan by the Pokemon With You Foundation. This is a project aimed at revitalizing the Noto Peninsula Area, which was previously struck by an earthquake on New Year’s Day 2024.
Later that year, it also faced heavy rainfall, affecting the overall tourism in the area. The revamped Pokemon-themed makeover at the Noto Airport is aimed at bringing a positive atmosphere to the airport and welcoming new tourists.
Ishikawa Governor Yukiyoshi Yamano said, “I want to give children in Noto an exciting experience and energize them as much as possible,” adding that he also hopes to attract many tourists.
The region is also adding themed manhole covers and a Pokemon hot spring footbath.
