This semi-high-speed train aims to significantly reduce travel time, providing a quicker, more comfortable, and reliable experience as it travels through the picturesque Kashmir Valley.
The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express comes with modern features and enhanced safety measures, expected to promote tourism by making it easier to reach popular destinations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg. Additionally, it will support local businesses and improve regional connectivity. Railway officials have completed the required safety inspections and have upgraded the route infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
Covering the 266.66 kilometers between Jammu and Srinagar in under five hours, the Vande Bharat Express offers a significant advantage over road travel, which is often hindered by landslides, heavy snow, and traffic issues on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The first train will leave Jammu Tawi at 10:30 am and arrive in Srinagar at 3:05 pm.

The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train has been specially designed with features to combat freezing temperatures. A snow removal train will operate ahead of passenger and freight trains, ensuring all-year-round operation regardless of weather conditions.
To enhance passenger safety and comfort, the railway has incorporated anti-vibration seismic devices into the train’s design, which is crucial given the region’s susceptibility to earthquakes.

This specific Vande Bharat Express can manage extreme cold, functioning effectively in temperatures as low as -20°C. The train comes equipped with advanced heating systems for both passengers and the driver; for instance, the driver’s cabin has a heated windshield to prevent fogging and freezing.
Additionally, heating elements have been installed in the plumbing and bio-toilets to keep water unfrozen. This will ensure that the systems operate properly during cold spells.
