Ooty Flower Show 2026 Dates, Timings, and More 

Ooty Flower Show 2026 will be the 128th edition of the vibrant festival set in Ooty. It is a premier annual event that features various exhibitions, shows, and cultural programs. This month-long celebration also hosts one of the most famous flower shows. The festival this year will be hosted from May 4, 2026, to May 27, 2026. It is hosted and designed to showcase the region’s natural beauty and tourism.

The celebrations will begin on May 4 with various presentations that characterize the culture and way of life in Ooty. A larger portion of these celebrations celebrate the blooming of various flowers, and they also host other shows like the Dog Show, the Vegetable Show, the Spice Show, the Boat Race, and more. The best part is that this festival is not limited to one spot; it is spread across the Nilgiris.

Here is a list of some of the famous shows that are lined up for this festival. 

Flower Show

Known as one of the most important sub-events of the summer festival, the Flower Show is a 5 to 6-day event. It is hosted in the Government Botanical Garden, which is spread across 55 acres of land. This show features thousands of fascinating flowers, hybrid plant species, and beautiful floral installations. 

Rose Show

The Rose Show is another known sub-event within the summer festival. It is hosted at the Government Rose Garden, mostly at the same time as the Flower Show. The show hosts about 20 thousand varieties of roses blooming simultaneously. 

The Vegetable and Fruit Show

The Vegetable and Fruit Show is a sub-event that features farmers showcasing the best of highland produce. This includes cauliflowers at high altitudes, large-sized carrots, as well as rare varieties of beans and potatoes. They also host vegetable and fruit carvings where intricate sculptures are made from fresh vegetables and fruits. 

Spice Show

This sub-event within the summer festival features spices that are locally grown from the Ooty plantation farms. This includes dried fruits, tea, cardamom, cloves and more.

How To Reach Ooty

You can reach Ooty via train, bus, or road (via Coimbatore/Mettupalayam/Masinagudi) 

Air

  • The nearest airport to Ooty is the Coimbatore International Airport.
  • The airport is about 82 kms away from Ooty. 
  • After landing at the Coimbatore airport, you can take a pre-paid taxi, cab, or bus to Ooty. 
  • This will be a good 2.5 to 3-hour scenic journey by road. 

Train

  • There are no direct train services to reach Ooty.
  • The nearest railway stations are Coimbatore railway station and Mettupalayam railway station.
  • From Coimbatore railway station, you can take a pre-paid taxi, cab, or a bus to Ooty. 
  • From Mettupalayam, you can take the scenic toy train ride to Ooty. This ride will last for about 3 to 4 hours. 

Road

  • If you are planning to reach Ooty by road, make sure you leave early in the morning and travel accordingly. 
  • This is because the journey might get delayed based on traffic and the number of stops. 
  • The roads are generally good, but the only concern is the restricted travel time on certain routes. 
  • The route near Bandipur and Madhumalai National Parks is restricted from 8 PM to 6 AM. 
  • Make sure you check all such information before heading on a road trip. 

Important Tips To Remember While Travelling To Ooty

  • Make sure you book your accommodation in advance. Ooty witnesses 100 percent occupancy during this festival. 
  • May is generally pleasant in Ooty, but you can still carry an umbrella for sudden mountain rains and maybe a light jacket as well. 
  • Use cloth bags and reusable bottles because Ooty is a plastic-free zone. So make sure you avoid taking plastic bottles and bags to this town.
  • Drive responsibly and follow the speed limits mentioned on signboards.
  • Watch out for wild animals, especially if you are moving through the Bandipur and Madhumalai National Park
