The Tanjore Tiffin Room: A Piece Of Tamil Nadu In Mumbai

On this episode of unstumbled’s newest IP, “State On A Plate,” we savored authentic Tamilian food. And which other place in Mumbai would have been the perfect choice if not Tanjore Tiffin Room?

Our experience was made better by the founder, Mr. Kishor DF, who guided us through this delicious journey. He explained to us various facts about Tamilian food, leaving us completely surprised. Kishor mentioned that Tamil Nadu has a very ancient food culture, and everything is grown off the land. He also spoke about how people have misconceptions about Tamilians and their food, for example, that Tamilian food is all about idlis and vadas.

The Best Of Tamilian Delicacies

He spoiled us for choices with a table full of Tamilian delicacies. Mr. Kishor served us Curd rice, Rasam, Appalam, More Malaga, Filter coffee, Classic Mutton Ghee Roast, Muttai Kulambu, Lemon and Tamarind Rice, Appam, Classic Stew, and so much more.

Our host was completely bowled over not only by the delicious dishes but also by the facts stated by the owner about the same. We mean for any foodie, food and its backstory are always a hit combination.

As we savored his top picks, he shared with us important ingredients that are prominently used in Tamilian cuisine, like curry leaves, tamarind, and coconut. Food is said to always bring nostalgia, and towards the end of the video, it did the same to the owner as he shared some amazing family and food memories with us.
