The main gateway to Ladakh is Leh, which sits at an impressive height of 11,480 feet. With the tourist season beginning, Leh Airport has announced an increase to 18 daily flights to accommodate the growing number of visitors, as shared by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on April 5, 2026.

Leh Airport To Get 18 Daily Flights From Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar And Chandigarh

Through concerted efforts, Leh Airport has significantly boosted its flight operations, increasing from 8 to 18 daily flights as of April 2. The new schedules link major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar, and Chandigarh, with two additional flights anticipated to commence shortly, offering travelers greater flexibility in their travel plans.

The number of domestic tourists visiting Leh fell from 292,836 in 2024 to 212,799 in 2025, marking a 27 per cent decline. To help regain lost numbers in 2026, a coalition comprising the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association, the All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association, and the All Kargil Travel Trade Association supported the increase in flight frequencies to enhance tourism in the region.

The enhanced number of flights is expected to attract more visitors, revitalize the tourism sector, and generate local employment opportunities. This move aims to cement Ladakh’s reputation as a desirable tourist destination. This season, travelers should explore the stunning landscapes and rich culture of Ladakh for an unforgettable experience.

What Are Some Famous Spots In Ladakh
