Mumbai–Vijaydurg Ro-Ro Ferry Service To Start From March 1: How To Book Tickets, Fares, Routes & Timings

Mumbai–Vijaydurg Ro-Ro Ferry

The Mumbai–Vijaydurg Ro-Ro Ferry is set to begin operations on March 1, 2026, just in time for the summer tourist influx and Holi celebrations. Announced by the Maharashtra ports department, this roll-on/roll-off ferry service will connect Mumbai to Vijaydurg in Sindhudurg district. The timing of the launch coincides with the Shimga festival, during which many people travel from the city to their hometowns in the Konkan region.

This service promises to be one of the fastest ferry services in South Asia, initially scheduled to start on September 1, 2025, but is now confirmed for March 1, 2026. The ferry, named M2M Princess, features stylish interiors, premium amenities, and curated dining options, ensuring a pleasant journey for all passengers.

Travel time between these two locations will reduce to around seven hours, compared to the usual 10 hours by road. Passengers can board the ferry at Bhaucha Dhakka (Ferry Wharf) in Mumbai. This provides an alternative to the busy Mumbai-Goa highway as they arrive in Vijaydurg. Onboard, travelers will find various options, including cafés and a bar with tableside service in select areas.

For the pilot phase in March, there will be eight departures from both Mumbai and Vijaydurg, running for a total of 16 days. The ferry has received over 140 regulatory clearances, with all necessary approvals from maritime authorities.
